Laura Vercelli and Geoff Cohen opened their studio, Vercelli Cohen Architects, in 2010.

We work on private residential projects and have more than 25 years’ experience on a wide variety of building types including commercial offices, retail, residential, transport, education, hotel and public realm.

We work closely together on all our projects from the earliest briefings to the final construction stages bringing together many years of experience but also offering different perspectives and a broader design narrative for our clients.

We recognise the importance and value of establishing strong relationships with our clients that facilitate effective communication and facilitate the development of a robust brief.

We believe that buildings, when well considered, enhance people’s lives.

We study plots and buildings to understand the particular way that climate, weather, light and other external factors impact our sites and inform design decisions.

We focus on designing high quality internal spaces filled with daylight and sunlight, clean tempered air, good acoustics and stimulating views.

We pay particular attention to organising the connectivity between areas and defining a clear circulation and hierarchy between functional spaces.

We produce initial hand drawn sketches and simple 3D models to explore and communicate early ideas and simultaneously look at structure, materials and construction details.

Sustainability is an integral part of our design process and we employ different strategies for our diverse projects and client aspirations.
